background

Don’t feel like a writer? That’s fine. Maybe you’re an aspiring writer, someone searching for your “in” or you’ve been at this thing for a while privately but struggle to claim yourself as a capital-W Writer publicly.

Writing for Fakers is a community where you can fake it until you make it, baby.
We’re here for wannabes, returners and all you in-betweeners, too.

The Imposter Syndrome Cure

You can’t have one without the other. I call it “The Three Cs. Each C feeds into the other two to keep your momentum as a writer flourishing.

  1. CRAFT

Increasing your knowledge of your craft will increase your

confidence as a writer. At Writing for Fakers we do this

through workshops, classes and coaching that are specific to

your needs as a writer and as a person with a full life beyond

your writing.

  1. CONFIDENCE

Writer’s block is often a byproduct of not feeling confident in our skills as a writer. Writing for Fakers boosts your confidence by boosting your craft, surrounding you with community and by helping you identify your internal obstacles.

  1. COMMUNITY

Writing might be a solo task but being a writer isn’t. A good community helps keep you motivated, learning, and growing as a writer. And it can also help you continue to feel “in the mix” even when you’re not in an active writing period. When you subscribe to our newsletter, you get access to our community.

Meet Minda.
When I was a child, I didn’t know any writers or how
someone becomes a writer. In undergrad, a cruel professor
told me in front of everyone that I did not belong in her writing
workshop. As a grad student, my work was dismissed as “Chick
Lit.”

I kept writing anyway. When the path was murky. When
people doubted my abilities. When publishing made it clear that
people like me don’t get to publish books like mine. And
somehow, beyond the odds, I found success. The NYC agent.
The abundant book deal. Teaching writing workshops around
the nation in communities, at colleges and literary festivals.

Now, I’m sharing what I learned along the way: that
community is greater than gatekeepers, that the only thing
you need to do to be a writer is write and that it’s nonsense
to believe that feedback can’t be both kind and direct.Writing for Fakers is a long-time dream come true that I created
for writers just like you.

I’m so happy you’ve found us <3
