Building a website can be time consuming and expensive — or just expensive and ineffective cause you hired someone… but they were the wrong someone.

Most writers need a very simple, basic website that can actually be done quickly and at no cost. At most stages in your career you just need a place where people can easily learn more about you and your writing and get in touch with you for publishing and speaking opportunities. So on January 7th at 7P on Zoom, I’m doing a free class for paid subscribers walking you through setting up your writer website.

You can find the sign up link after the paywall.

I’ll be doing a live demo with my writer friend and client Isabel. So you’ll see exactly how we added her photos, dropped in her bio and other website essentials. I’ll be giving an overview of four different website builders — some you may have never heard of and a couple you might be surprised to find also do websites — so you can find the option that best fits your budget, time and expertise. We’ll also chat about domains and there’ll be time for a Q&A at the end.

A Writing Platform for Regular People

“Websites for Writers” is the first class in a four class series I’m doing free for Writing For Faker paid subscribers in 2026. These classes answer the question, “How can I have a writing platform when writing isn’t my whole life?” These are the basics for establishing your online presence.

  • Class 1: Websites for Writers

  • Class 2: Newsletters for Newbies

  • Class 3: How Not to Be Basic with Canva

  • Class 4: Being on the Scene - Online vs Local

Can I Pay to Take “A Writing Platform for Regular People” Class?

Sorry, these classes are limited to paid subscribers to keep them small and intimate and as a perk for being a supporter of the Writing for Fakers community. You’ll find that the cost of an annual membership is far less than you’d pay for these classes separately.
